UFC 280 Backup Fighter CONTROVERSY

Alex Volkanovski recently said that he is the backup fighter for the UFC 280 main event in case something happens with Oliveira or Makhachev.
Dariush says he was told that he was the backup fighter. Dariush is fighitng on that card vs Gamrot.
Maybe the UFC told both guys they’re backups. Maybe Dariush is the backup for the backup that’s Volkanovski.
UFC isn’t too good at communicating with their fighters and often they are clueless as to what’s going on and find stuff out through the media or Twitter.
Other hypothesize Dariush’s manager Ali told him the wrong informaton.
The UFC would probably choose Volk as the backup though because he’s getting the next title shot anyways and it’d be a more bigger fight with him as the headliner.
And the UFC makes sure that ttheir cards in Abu Dhabi are always really good so they’d probably pick Volkanovski.

If the extremely rare case that both Oliveira and Makhachev can’t make the fight Volkanovski and Dariush can fight in the main event to decide who the real backup is.
