The 2025 Lexus Sport Electric, an upcoming all-electric supercar, is expected to resemble the iconic LFA. As Lexus aims to shift to an all-electric lineup, this vehicle will serve as a showcase for the brand’s electric performance capabilities. Currently referred to as “Electrified Sport,” it is anticipated to start at around $100,000, although this is just an estimate. This follows the legacy of the 2012 Lexus LFA, which sold for $350,000 per unit, and speculation suggests that the new model may share similarities with the original’s exclusivity but hopefully not its high price tag.
The idea of a new LFA has been discussed for over two years, fueled by the reveal of the Toyota GR GT3 concept at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon. The original LFA was highly praised for its powertrain and sound, with Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear calling it “the best car I’ve ever driven.” Expectations are high for this successor, rumored to debut in late 2025.
The upcoming Lexus LFA, known as “LFA II” for now, will not share the 4.0-liter V8 engine of the GR GT3 but will instead feature a new powertrain combining a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and Toyota’s advanced hybrid system. This configuration will produce an impressive 900 horsepower, with 720 horsepower from the V8 and 180 horsepower from the hybrid system. The car will have a front mid-engine layout, rear-wheel drive, and a rear transaxle, along with a 10-gear change control system for quick driver response. This hybrid system is expected to be an upgraded version of the one first seen in the 2017 Lexus LS, capable of handling greater power and performance.
